Our Advocacy Work

The following issues are on the agenda of each of our three Vision Councils for the coming year.

Helping Children Succeed All children and youth reach their fullest potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

Make the public and policy-makers aware of the economic impact of early care and education, so they create laws, policies and services that support it.

Advocate for increased access to affordable medical and dental care for children and families.

Fostering Self-Sufficiency Increased economic opportunity, stability and self-sufficiency for all Mercer County residents, especially indigent and low-income families and individuals and non-English speaking populations.

Explore how to address the lack of affordable housing by convening government, businesses, developers and realtors with the Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness.

Work to expand affordable public transportation throughout the county with Greater Mercer ITN, TRADE, and Mercer County Office of Human Services.

Caring for Seniors and People with Disabilities All seniors and people with disabilities able to live and to age in place with dignity.

Advocate for more recreation activities/programs for adults with disabilities.

Advocate increasing availability of legal services for seniors and people with disabilities.

Educate employers and workplaces about the need for respite services for caregivers.

Work with the county and local businesses to develop more job skills training for adults with disabilities.

Advocate for increased access to affordable medical and dental care for seniors and people with disabilities.
