United Way to Host First Maternal Health Fair to Improve Health Equity

United Way of Greater Mercer County (UWGMC) will host its first Maternal Health Fair to improve health access and equity for under-resourced and vulnerable populations in the community. The event will provide information on lactation, WIC/SNAP and other vital resources that mothers and caregivers can use in English and Spanish.

The inaugural Maternal Health Fair will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Hightstown, NJ on June 24, 2023, from 10 AM-12:00 PM. The fair is FREE and open to the community. There will be fun activities for children and prizes will be raffled. A UWGMC Resource Specialist will be on hand to answer questions and assist with NJ SNAP and health insurance enrollment.

Penn Medicine, a UWGMC partner, will provide lactation/breastfeeding consultations, yoga, and blood pressure screenings.

The event is possible with funding from Central Jersey Family Health Consortium and other UWGMC financial supporters.

“What we do for our community and how we do it matters. We continue to be committed to equity which is critical to the health and well-being and stability of families”, said Sandra Toussaint, UWGMC President & CEO.

“We can share information that can greatly improve women’s health and well-being such as breastfeeding and physical health. Through this fair, expectant mothers and caregivers will learn about comprehensive health care services and resources available to them in Mercer County,” said Fatima Scipio, UWGMC Community Impact Director.
