We believe in the power of community. At United Way of Greater Mercer County, we are a grassroots organization, with vibrant relationships in the community, the private sector, and government.
Our efforts, and those of our partners and volunteers, are aimed at building a strong network of resilient organizations across the region so that together we can better serve our neighbors. We are adaptable and can move quickly to identify our community’s needs then build the coalition of resources needed to make a difference.
Nonprofit Capacity Building
We strengthen the nonprofit community by supporting organizations through educational workshops on topics that matter most to their work, expert consulting, volunteer recruitment assistance, and opportunities to connect through events and partnerships. Our capacity-building efforts are focused on helping nonprofits grow stronger together, use resources efficiently, and better serve their communities.

Power Up Fund
Beyond technical training, the Power Up Fund helps nonprofits move from survival to growth by closing operational gaps. By providing unrestricted grants and capacity-building tools, the fund strengthens infrastructure and encourages leaders to prioritize collaboration over competition. This investment ensures local organizations remain sustainable as they tackle systemic issues like poverty and health inequities.
Launched by United Way of Greater Mercer County (UWGMC) in 2024, the fund drives community resilience by supporting under-funded leaders. Check back for future grant opportunities and stay connected via UWGMC news.
How the Power Up Fund Drives Local Resilience:
- Flexible Funding: Unrestricted grants support essential needs like strategic planning and internal systems.
- Leadership Growth: Grantees access executive coaching, professional workshops, and networking with major funders.
- Collective Impact: Partners convene to share insights and use advocacy to address barriers like housing and structural racism.
- Long-term Stability: The program promotes data-informed operations and standard procedures to ensure lasting community impact.
