College, Career, & Trade School Readiness

Helping Mercer County students become future-ready.

United Way of Greater Mercer County partners with local high schools and nonprofit organizations to help students plan for their post-secondary journey, whether that path leads to college, a trade school, or the workforce. Our Workshop Facilitators provide hands-on guidance and support to ensure every student has the tools and confidence to take their next step.

How We Help Students

Our Workshop Facilitators assist students with:

  • FAFSA Applications – Navigating the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to maximize financial aid eligibility
  • Scholarship Applications – Identifying and applying for scholarship opportunities
  • College Essay Writing  – Learning how to tell a compelling story and present their best selves to colleges
  • Resume Building – Creating professional resumes that stand out
  • Interview Skills – Practicing and developing confidence for college and career interviews
  • Post-Secondary Planning – Building a personalized plan for college, trade school, or career pathways

All services are free of charge to students and families in our community.

About the FAFSA

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the gateway to the largest source of financial aid available for college and vocational school. It’s free to complete and determines eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid. All students should submit a FAFSA regardless of income to maximize their financial aid opportunities.

We assist both students and parents in completing the FAFSA – free of charge.
