Fiscal Sponsorship Program

Fiscal sponsorship is a formal relationship between a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a group, project, or organization where the 501(c)3 brings that organization under its tax status umbrella.

For a small fee, the United Way of Greater Mercer County's (UWGMC) Fiscal Sponsorship Program offers smaller groups, projects, and organizations an opportunity to focus on their mission, service, and fundraising.

Through the fiscal sponsorship UWGMC:

  • manages the grant funds
  • makes sure that you are working within the confines of the law
  • serves as the direct connection to the IRS

This program exists to help projects, groups, or organizations to dedicate resources to impact the community, without having to spend capacity on administrative overhead. This may include strategic planning, board development, and financial procedure development.

UWGMC only acts as a fiscal sponsor for organizations, groups, or projects that are working to impact the basic needs, health, education, or financial security of individuals and families.

Currently, the UWGMC acts as a fiscal sponsor for:

African Link Initiative (ALI)
ALI is an evidence-based identity development program helping teens of African descent transform the way they see their world and their possibilities by first transforming the way they see themselves, and the continent of Africa.
