Last year, United Way of Greater Mercer County’s… -United Financial Empowerment Partnership completed 1,063 EITC tax returns in 2012, bringing back to the county $1.52 million dollars with a total economic impact of $6.6 million. -United Aging and Disability Connection kept over 228 seniors in their homes saving the tax payer $3.5 million. While an average Medicaid bed in a nursing home costs $70,000 a year, our program costs $1,600 per consumer per year, saving the tax payer over $16 million based on the cost of a nursing homes vs. coordinated care at home. -United Youth Mentor Link program graduated 90% of the students in a school with a 47% graduation rate. -Last year we managed over 46,600 volunteer hours, which is equal to 24 man years and represents a contribution to Mercer County of $1.19 million (Economic value of volunteering in New Jersey is $25.20 per hour).
